Covenants are often set up as a new sub-division is created. Covenants are minimum building requirements & living standards put into a written agreement by the developer to ensure that each home built within the sub-division is built & maintained to a certain standard. They give the purchaser an added level of confidence when building their home, safe in the knowledge that each surrounding home will also have to comply with these requirements thus upholding the general value of real estate in that particular area. Each purchaser will be required to sign in agreement a copy of the covenants prior to purchasing a Highlands lot.
